Artwork story
Alhalkere depicts a bird's eye view of Janet's grandfather's homeland in the Utopia region north-east of Alice Springs. The work maps the Country and its important features, including bush foods, flowers, waterholes and women's ceremony sites. Through layered dotting and colour, Janet reflects the changing seasons and her enduring connection to her ancestral Country.
