Collection: Tanya Brady (APY)
Tanya Brady, born in 1980, hails from Amata, South Australia, in the APY lands. She is a gifted Pitjantjatjara artist renowned for her talents and leadership within the community. Tanya has held influential positions at both the Amata Community Council and Amata School.
Coming from a lineage of accomplished artists, Tanya's artistic heritage stems from her grandparents, Mick Wikilyiri and Paniny Mick, who were esteemed cultural leaders and highly respected artists. Additionally, her mother, Freda Brady, is part of a group of five sisters (including Yaritji Young, Tjungkara Ken, Sandra Ken, and Maringka Tunkin) renowned for their collaborative artworks, including the acclaimed winning entry at the prestigious Wynne Prize held by the Art Gallery of NSW in 2016.
Tanya's artworks beautifully embody the significance of knowledge transmission in Anangu culture. They serve as a testament to the vital role it plays in preserving cultural law and narratives, ensuring their enduring presence.
