Michelle Possum Nungurrayi

Michelle Possum Nungurrayi is an Anmatyerre artist from Yuelamu (Mt Allan) in the Northern Territory.

The daughter of renowned artists Emily Nakamarra Possum and Clifford Possum Tjapaltjarri, Michelle brings her own unique voice to Aboriginal art. Her paintings capture aerial perspectives of her ancestral lands, offering a glimpse into the landscapes, significant sites, and Dreaming stories that are deeply rooted in her culture.

Her works often focus on themes such as the Seven Sisters Dreaming, Grandmother’s Country, and various bush tucker stories, including Seed Dreaming, Bush Coconut, and Goanna Dreaming. Michelle’s intricate designs and bold use of colour reflect her close relationship to country, creating artworks that are striking in both detail and scale.
