Bob Gibson Tjungurrayi

Bob Gibson Tjungurrayi paints his father's country at Patjantja, near Patjarr on the edge of the Gibson Desert, and the Tingari ancestral journeys that run through it. His canvases are built from loose concentric squares in bold, high-contrast colour, worked at speed with swift brushstrokes and quick decisions about shape and composition. The hand stays visible in the paint. He comes from a strong painting family, and his mother Mary Gibson is also a painter.
