Jeannie Petyarre

Jeannie Petyarre is best known for her Bush Medicine Leaves, the motif that became her signature. It represents the leaves Anmatyerre women use for medicine, painted in a range of colours and patterns that suggest the changing seasons and moods of the desert. Her intricate, highly detailed work often draws on Anmatyerre women's Dreaming stories. She was introduced to painting by her mother and began as a batik artist before moving to acrylic on canvas.
