Debra Nangala McDonald

Debra Nangala McDonald paints sacred stories from her grandfather's country at Lake MacDonald, including Uwalki Watiya Tjuta (Acacia or Mulga Tree), the Goanna Love Story and other Women's Dreaming narratives. Through marriage she became closely associated with Mitjili Napurrula, whose Mulga Tree Dreaming she now paints as its sole custodian. Her compositions are known for bold shapes, striking negative space and red oxide backgrounds. Her mother Martha McDonald and aunties Linda Syddick Napaltjarri and Wentja Napaltjarri also paint.
