Susan Umatji Tjitayi

Susan Tjitayi, also known as Umatji Tjitayi, is an Aboriginal artist from Ernabella (Pukatja) in the APY Lands of South Australia.

Her paintings depict important Tjukurpa stories connected to her father’s country, particularly the Pukara story. Through layered patterns and rhythmic mark-making, Susan maps ancestral journeys across the desert landscape, reflecting a strong cultural connection to country.
