Yuelamu Country

Deep in the desert north-west of Alice Springs lies Yuelamu (Mt Allan) - the shared Country of one of Aboriginal art's most remarkable families. This collection draws together three living generations and two family lines, Warlpiri and Anmatyerre, connected through Yuelamu and the late Clifford Possum Tjapaltjarri, one of the most collected Aboriginal artists in history.

At its heart are Michelle Possum Nungurrayi, Clifford's daughter, and Maureen Nampijinpa Hudson, his blood cousin. From them the line runs down through Maureen's daughters Julieanne and Gwenda Turner Nungurrayi to her grandson Farron Furber, who carries the same Country into its third generation.
