Karen Bird Ngale

Karen Bird Ngale, born in 1984, is the youngest daughter of renowned Utopian artist Lindsay Bird Mpetyane, who also served as a senior elder for Ilkawerne country. Karen comes from a family of talented Utopian artists, including her sisters Rosie and Jessie Bird. She lives at Akaye Soakage in the Utopia Region of Central Australia.

Karen was taught the traditional stories, songs, and dances of Utopian ceremonies by senior women and learned painting techniques from her father. She is a rising star in the next generation of Aboriginal artists. Her artwork showcases the stories of Awelye (women's ceremonies and body paint) and the bush tucker, particularly the Alpar (rat tail bush medicine plant), reflecting her cultural heritage and artistic talent.
