Janice Stanley, a third-generation artist from Ernabella in the APY Lands, paints the salt lakes near Mt Connor as part of the Seven Sisters creation story. What is the Piltati Tjukurpa story painted by Rhoda Tjitayi?

The story follows two sisters, Wanyinta and Alartjatjarra, who travelled Piltati with their husbands hunting and gathering food. This dreaming tells of the Spirits and the Creation of the Land. The story tells us that the ancestral spirits came down to the land from the sky in the form of fire. As the spirits moved across the land, the fire would leave behind the country as it can be seen today. These spirits created the water, rivers, waterholes, trees, animals and plants.
