Alice Granites Napanangka, born in 1958 at Mount Allan cattle station, is a distinguished Aboriginal artist known for her intricate depictions of Dreamings, including Mina Mina, Sand Dunes, Snakevine, and Pirlala (Bush Beans). Her artworks are celebrated for their meticulous detail and harmonious colour palettes.

Key Elements of Mina Mina Dreaming

The Mina Mina Dreaming (Jukurrpa) is a significant narrative in Warlpiri culture, associated with a sacred women's site located approximately 600 kilometres west of Yuendumu, near Lake Mackay on the Northern Territory and Western Australia border. This area features notable geographical elements, including:

  • Sand dunes
  • Ngalyirpi (Snake and Vines)
  • Jinti-Parnta (Mush Mushrooms)
  • Desert Oak Trees
  • Muulji (which has been there since the Dreamtime and is still present at Mina Mina)

In the Dreamtime, ancestral women danced at Mina Mina, during which digging sticks emerged from the ground. These women embarked on a journey eastward, creating various landforms and imparting cultural knowledge. The custodians for Mina-Mina are Napanangka, Napangardi, Japanangka and Japangardi.
