Collection: Roseanne Morton Petyarre

Roseanne Morton Petyarre was born in 1984 at Boundary Bore (Utopia region, Northern Territory). Roseanne grew up in a family of respected Indigenous artists including her mother, Gracie Morton Pwerle and the granddaughter of notable Kathleen Petyarre. She is commonly known to paint Dreaming stories using meticulous dotting techniques and natural ochre such as Anwekety (Bush Plum) Dreaming, Bush Seeds, Bush Medicine Leaves, and Yam Leaf Dreaming.
Roseannes Morton paintings depict women journeying to gather Bush Plums. The dotted paths trace the routes they travel, while the smaller dotted sections represent areas where the bush plums grow. The larger, more colourful sections along the paths symbolise the matured flowers. At the centre, the circle signifies the meeting place where the women come together at the end of their journey to share and enjoy the food they have collected.
