Stephen Pitjara


Stephen was born in 1974 in Utopia Region, East of Alice Springs. Stephen often paints stories including Emu Dreaming, Yam Dreaming, Shooting Stars and Spirit Man. Stephen has a versatile style of artwork with a natural talent for interpreting stories. Stephen now lives in Adelaide with his wife (and artist herself) Berndadine Johnson.

Spirit Man

Stephen's “Spirit Man” is a detailed reflection and appreciation for strong male figures and represents the role of these resourceful and reliable men in aboriginal communities. These paintings explore natures offerings and artist connection to country. These paintings celebrate land the ancestral spirits created and what is gives to the community.
