Collection: Maureen Nampijinpa Hudson

Maureen Hudson Nampijinpa is a highly regarded Warlpiri artist from Mt Allen in the Northern Territory. Born in 1959, she grew up surrounded by the stories, ceremonies, and desert landscapes that inspire her work. A blood cousin of renowned artist Clifford Possum Tjapaltjarri, Maureen carries forward a strong family tradition of artistic excellence.

Her paintings often depict Tali (Sand Dunes) Dreaming and the Seven Sisters Dreaming, stories deeply tied to the land and sky of Central Australia. These Dreamings are expressed through rhythmic dotting, flowing patterns, and earth-toned palettes that evoke the movement of wind over sand and the celestial journey of the ancestral sisters.

Maureen’s art has been exhibited widely in Australia and internationally, and she is recognised for her skill in blending traditional Warlpiri storytelling with a distinctive visual style. Her work reflects a deep cultural knowledge and a commitment to preserving and sharing the ancestral narratives passed down through her family.
